The Kappa Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity has a proud history at Appalachian State University, originally organized in October 1982 and officially chartered in April 1983. The chapter had a rich history and strong brotherhood over the first 25 years. In the fall of 2009, the chapter closed due to low numbers. Sigma Nu Fraternity headquarters supported the chapter returning to campus and colonized the new chapter in March 2012 and the Kappa Epsilon chapter was re-chartered in March 2013. Since their return in 2013, the Kappa Epsilon chapter has set the standard for it what means to be a strong Greek organization at Appalachian State. The chapter has been named a Rock Chapter four times nationally by Sigma Nu Fraternity, most recently the 2025 Most Improved chapter, and has consistently been the largest chapter at Appalachian State University.
